Aji Gedhong Dzatullah — The Master Key of Javanese Ilmu, Worn by Sunan Kalijaga

Aji Gedhong Dzatullah is the ilmu Sunan Kalijaga kept upon him like a garment. It is the highest of the four Aji Wasesa of Java. Its name means the treasury of the Divine Essence, and it is exactly that: one very short key prayer that holds dozens of healing methods and hundreds of works of supernatural potency, attraction, forging and locking. It is served by the Green Dragon of the East.

• It is the highest of the four Aji Wasesa, and its energy is the strongest of the four.
• Its mantra is berisi, already filled. It is wingit, sacred and full of aura.

• It is served by the khodam Naga Hijau, the Green Dragon of the East, who is commanded by niat.
• It makes all learning easy and brings any ilmu into harmony and union, quickly and of itself.
• It ripens the ilmu already held. Ilmu not yet held come to be learned, by whatever path they find. Practised often, it brings a great deal of knowledge.
• It grows stronger the more it is practised, until it is mendarah mendaging: become the blood and flesh of the practitioner.
• In the one who holds all four Aji Wasesa, the circle of the four quarters is complete: the Green Dragons of the West, the South, the North and the East.

TRADITION, LINEAGE & SYMBOLISM

Ageman is that which one wears and holds to. This ilmu was Sunan Kalijaga’s own, kept upon him as constantly as clothing. To receive it is to receive what a saint of Java carried, not merely what he taught.

Its name is its doctrine. A gedhong is a building made to keep precious things; Dzatullah is the Essence of God. Even its short mantra unfolds as an inner journey that ends by returning home to the Gedhong Sukma, the treasury of the soul.

The ilmu is handed down only after a tawassul, a chain of invocation that descends in one unbroken line. It begins with the Prophet and the archangels and passes through Syekh Abdul Qodir Jailani and, with special intention, Sunan Kalijaga. It then comes down into the land of Java itself: Mbah Semar Ismoyo Jati, the guardians of the soil, the danyang of the reciter’s own district. It closes on the hand that gave the ijazah.
