Hindu Tantra & Deeksha
In the Shaiva and Shakta Agamas, a mantra is Vak itself, the Word as living Shakti, yet it stays dormant until awakened by deeksha, the transmission through which the guru imparts both the sound and its inner power. The deekshas offered here span the whole breadth of Hindu Tantra: Sri Vidya and the nine avaranas of the Maha Meru, the ten Mahavidyas, the Vak Siddhi of Saraswati, the fierce and protective grace of Bhairava, Ganesha and the divine astras, the saundarya sadhana of the Apsaras and Yakshinis, the awakening of Kundalini among many others. Each confers the adhikara, the rightful authority, to practice its mantras, nyasas and mudras, leading the sadhaka toward samarasya, the union of Shiva and Shakti.
