The Mystic Arts of Java were compiled by the Javanese teacher Hari Andri Winarso, a practitioner of kejawen, the traditional mystic Javanism — the first five volumes at Practitioner level, the last five under the seal of the International Lux Javanica Metaphysical Learning Center. Their formulas hold the whole syncretic weave of Java: the four elements and the blood-siblings of the older cosmology, the sovereign figures of Prabu Siliwangi and Semar, the serpent-queen Nini Blorong, set beside the Islamic names of power and the Qur'anic Qul-Hu and Surat An-Nasr.
